Weight Loss Links and Random Thoughts
Due to popular demand, I have unleashed some helpful weight loss website page links. You can check them out on the Biggest Loser Challenge page. Feel free to email Denise or post a comment with any helpful website page links that you feel are helpful to you and would like to share. I will also add a few of my own that I have come across. Feel free to send us anything that you come across as it can only help the group as a whole reach their goals. Oh, and also feel free to share any games/applications that you might have found helpful.
Personally, for this challenge I went out a bought a Wii and the Biggest Loser video game. This is extremely helpful. I hate leaving my family to go work out and once I’m at the gym alone there is no motivation. A digitized version of Bob Harper kicks my ass into gear every time I fire up the game and keeps me moving for 30 minutes or so. Also, if you happen to own an iPhone or iPod touch, I highly recommend the Edibles app. You can grab this app for $5 on the App Store and is well worth every penny. It can be configured to use the Weight Watchers Points System or any other calculated method of food intake out there. I personally use this app to track my Points, exercise and food groups so I know what else I need to eat throughout the day so I can plan my days/weeks accordingly.
Another great app for the iPhone/iPod touch is Restaurants. This app is free and is great for when you are eating out. As an example of how this saved me from going in the red for the week, check this out. Just last week, Denise and I went out to Applebee’s in Biddeford and I’m checking out the menu. My usual choice (when I’m feeling like a little pollo, and let’s face it, I usually am) is some kind of chicken meal that I can’t recall the name of, but it contains chicken, bbq sauce, and melted cheese and potatoes. Keep in mind that Applebee’s has a Weight Watchers friendly menu and this item is right above the item I chose which is a some lime chicken, potatoes and broccoli for 7 points. Just for giggles, I opened up the Restaurants app on my iPhone and what do you know…the yummy dish that I would normally get (code: Bad for Me) is on the app. Get this…the dish was 1108 calories & like 60 in total fats. This equates to something like 22 points and I get 31 points in a day! I was simply amazed. So I chose the 400 calorie meal instead with a salad sans bacon and had a nice meal out with the family.

My weight is 148 today. This week was hard due to menstation, I wonder what the other women do to maintain workouts when you feel so badly? Or I can just write the week off and get back on the wheel once it is over. Good luck this week everyone.

Audra, I just power through and know that the next week will be better. I’m right there with you!

Russ, you said you have the Biggest Loser for the Wii, do you have the balance board too? I have a Wii sport (have not used yet) and thought about getting that game you recommended but it kept talking about the balance board. Do you have one and do you think it is really necessary? Thanks!

The Biggest Loser game is great, and you do get a great workout. And yes, I do have the $100 board. The board is not necessary for the game, but many exercises do utilize the board and I wonder if you can’t do certain workouts without the board. I’m not sure. But at the beginning screen, you tell the game if you are using a board or not.

My weight today is 145, woo-hoo: 3 pounds! Ran 1.25 miles straight yesterday, so my endurance is finally building up. This week was smoother, I think that this is getting easier. Audra

Great job Audra! It’s early on, but so far you are in the lead with your 3 pounds and 2.03%!
